Obituary

Essie Mae Wynn was born on May 5, 1947, to James Marshill Wynn and Rose Lee (Cole) Wynn, in Wagoner, Oklahoma.  Essie, who was raised in the Inola area alongside her five siblings, was renowned for her compassionate and generous nature, embodying a heart of gold that impacted everyone she encountered.

Essie experienced the loss of her sister at a young age and dutifully took on the responsibility of raising her nieces and nephews, demonstrating remarkable dedication and resilience.  She played a vital role in nurturing and supporting her family, often prioritizing the needs of others above her own, even at personal sacrifice, exemplifying her selfless and compassionate nature.  Family members fondly recall Essie's love for food, particularly for chicken, noting that even in her final days here on Earth, she often expressed a desire for her favorite dish.

Essie departed this life on Saturday, August 2, 2025, in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, at the age of 78.  She is preceded in death by her parents, James and Rose Wynn; her siblings, Donnie Ray Wynn, Lonnie Joe Wynn, Winson Wynn, Kinnie Marie Wynn, and James Marshall Wynn.

Those left to cherish the memories of her life are her nephew, Timothy Roger Harlin; nieces, Rose Marie Harlin, Keejuana Leanne Harlin, and Roberta Harlin; numerous great nieces and nephews; and great-great nieces and nephews; and numerous friends all who will miss her greatly.

Essie exemplified what it means to be a caring and loving individual, leaving a lasting impression on the hearts of all who knew her through her kindness, compassion, and unwavering dedication to others.

A Memorial Visitation will be held to honor the life of Essie Wynn on Saturday, August 16, 2025, from 10 am - 1 pm in the Chapel of Mallett Funeral Home, Wagoner, OK.
