Evelyn May Bates was born November 1, 1927 in Newburgh, New York to William H. Cosgrove and Anna VanTassel Cosgrove. She grew up in New York, and later moved to many places as she travelled with her husband, Charles, during his military career in the United States Air Force. Following his retirement they made their home in Wagoner for many years. Evelyn was employed by Prestolite performing motor assembly before her retirement. She dearly loved cats and dogs and contributed to the WAGS program and to support those involved in helping animal friends. Mrs. Bates departed this life on Thursday, April 2, 2015 at the Wagoner Care Center. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles, their young son, Chucky; her parents; a sister. Edith Marie Gondolfo; brother, William H. Cosgrove II; and a sister-in-law, Donna. Survivors include four sisters-in-law, Jacqueline, Sharon, Carol and Juanita; a number of nieces and nephews; and her good friend, Marie Bunting; other relatives and friends. A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, April 6, 2015 at Mallett Funeral Home Chapel in Wagoner. Pallbearers will be Michael Crossno, Elisur Monroy and Lonnie Wright. Interment will be in Pioneer Cemetery in Wagoner.
