Essary
July 27, 1925 – August 30, 2016
Evelyn Essary was born in Vian, OK on July 27, 1925. She attended Georgetown School east of Muskogee in the first grade. Later her family moved over between Ft. Gibson and Tahlequah where she attended Perkins School. When she was around 11 yrs old she & her family moved to Porter in the Choska bottom area. At the age of 19 she married Charles Essary on August 17, 1944. Over the next few years six children were born; Don, Roy, Larry, Charlotte, Marilyn & Byron.
In 1965 they built a new home in the Porter area where they lived until 2012. In December 2014 Evelyn's husband Charles preceded her in death after a marriage of 70 years. She lived the last year and half of her life in the Ft. Gibson Nursing Home where she made numerous friends.
Evelyn loved family, gardening, and being a homemaker but most of all being a good Christian woman & an example to others. Evelyn passed from this life on Tuesday, August 30, 2016. In her last days she encouraged those around her to live a Christian life as she had always done.
Evelyn was preceded in death by 2 sons, Larry Essary and Byron Essary, one daughter-in-law Cammie Essary and one son-in-law Terry Allen.
Surviving children include Don & Robbie Essary of Bernice OK, Roy & Nana Essary of Porter, Sue Essary of Porter, Jim & Charlotte Easley of Porter, Marilyn Stout of Muskogee, Kathy Flusche of Muskogee and numerous grandchildren & great grandchildren.
A visitation will be held on Thursday, September 1 from 6-8 p.m. at Mallett Funeral Home and Crematory.
The funeral service honoring Evelyn will be on Friday, September 2 at 3 p.m. at Porter Church of Christ. Officiating the service will be Roy Essary and Don Essary. Interment will following at Greenwood Cemetery in Porter. Pallbearers will be Brian Essary, Kevin Essary, Tommy Essary, Jeff Easley, Mike Essary, and Scott Gaddy.
