Evelyn Pearl (Boggess) Howell, 85, passed away October 13, 2019 in Meeker, Oklahoma. She was born November 22, 1933 in Okay, Oklahoma. Her parents were Jesse and Cora (Stacy) Boggess.
She graduated from Okay High School with the class of 1950.
Evelyn married Robert Howell December 11, 1953 in Clovis, New Mexico. They were married 45 years when Robert preceded her in death in February, 1999.
Evelyn began her career in Arlington, Virginia working as a secretary for the US Government. She went on to work for Litton Systems in California. After moving back to Oklahoma, she began working for Seismograph, a subsidiary of Raytheon. She retired in 1989 after 23 years. In retirement she went to work for the Okay City Hall as City Treasurer and Deputy Clerk.
Evelyn and Bob had no children of their own, but she was a favorite aunt to multiple generations of her nieces and nephews. She could usually be found at family events with a camera in hand snapping pictures of everyone. She also documented a lot of family history. If you needed to know a date, look no further, she usually had it on her calendar.
Evie loved to travel. She and her sister, Illene, took many trips through the years. Illene would drive and Evelyn would navigate with her many maps. She especially loved visiting the ocean and lighthouses. She took volumes of pictures of scenery. She also loved to play Phase 10 and Skip-Bo.
Evelyn was preceded in death by her parents; husband; sisters and their spouses, Marilyn (Lawrence) Hamby, Kathleen (Davis) Hollifield, Dorothy (Paul) Martin and Linda (Paul Ray) Pofahl; her brother, Hudlin Boggess; and brother-in-law, Don Bynum. She is survived by her sister, Illene Bynum, and numerous nieces and nephews.
A graveside funeral service celebrating her life will be held on Wednesday, October 16, 2019 at 2:00 p.m. at Three Rivers Cemetery in Okay, Oklahoma with Reverend Ken Krepps officiating. Viewing will be on Tuesday, October 15, 10:00 am - 7:00 pm and Wednesday, October 16, 9:00 am - noon at Mallett Funeral Home and Crematory.
