Evelyn D. Smith was born December 11, 1920 in Pueblo, Colorado to Dudley Isaac and Beatrice "Bertha" (Brown) Odle. She was married to Gerald Smith, and they lived a long and happy life together for 65 years until his death in 2011. He was in the U. S. Army Air Corps, and they lived in Hawaii during the first years of their marriage. They later ran a dairy farm for many years. Evelyn was a wife and homemaker first. She loved cooking and sewing and traveling with Gerald. She was a member of the Immanuel Southern Baptist Church in Wagoner, and taught Sunday school. Evelyn liked to sing, and often sang with her daughter-in-law, Donna. Evelyn Smith departed this life on Sunday, December 14, 2014 in Broken Arrow, OK, just three days past her 94th birthday. Others who preceded her in death include three sisters, Roberta Garrett, Jane L. Brazell and Rena Johnson, and two brothers, Randolph Odle and Leamon Odle. Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Mike and Donna Smith of Broken Arrow; two grandchildren, Jennifer Smith and Kyle Smith; three great-grandchildren, Auryana Johnson, Kysen Smith and Cambrie Dailey; two sisters, Cherry Wilson and Maxine Hartley; one brother, Cletus Odle; numerous nieces and nephews; great-nieces and great-nephews; other relatives and friends. The funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, December 17, 2014 at the Immanuel Southern Baptist Church in Wagoner. The Reverend Rick Boyne will officiate. Interment will be in Floral Haven Cemetery in Broken Arrow, OK. Pallbearers will be Kyle Smith, Rick Newman, Rick Whitehead, David Cravens, Johnny Lunow and Jeff Lunow. Friends are invited to a Visitation with viewing on Tuesday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. at Mallett Funeral Home in Wagoner.
