Gale Henry Thaete was born December 24, 1941 in Downs, Kansas. He and his twin, Garry, were two of six children born to Edwin and Mable (Gier) Thaete. Gale attended Fort Hays State University in Hays, KS. He worked as an accountant at Phillips Petroleum in Bartlesville, OK, and later retired from Performance Petroleum in Barnsdall, OK. He served in the Army National Guard out of Fort Leonard Wood, MO.
He met and married his wife, Sandra, in 2002. At that time Gale was living on 17 acres in Ochelata, OK, where he raised cows, sheep, goats, pigs, and even an emu. Gale was especially fond of growing vegetables and fruits in his garden. They made their home in Muskogee for the past two years. His religion was very important to Gale, and he and Sandy were members of the Lighthouse Assembly of God in Muskogee.
Gale departed this life at his Muskogee home late Saturday, May 14, 2016. He was preceded in death by his parents and his twin brother, Garry Thaete, just last September.
Survivors include his wife, Sandra Thaete of the home; his sisters and brother, Dee Noffsinger and husband, Clifford, of Clay Center, KS, Carol McLean and husband, Tom, of Loveland, CO, Leland Thaete of Downs, KS and June Oliver and husband, Neil, of Downs, KS; two stepdaughters whom he helped raise, Shelly Coil of Jenks, OK and Vicki Ryan and husband, Charles, of Lenexa, KS; other stepchildren, Johnny Davis of Ponca City, OK, Terri Tucker and husband, Bret, of Glenpool, OK and Billy Parks and wife, Kim, of Tulsa, OK; many step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
A Visitation will be held Wednesday evening from 5:00-8:00 P.M. at Mallett Funeral Home and Crematory in Wagoner, OK.
The Funeral Service will be held graveside at Brushy Mountain Cemetery in Muskogee, OK at 2:00 P.M. Thursday, May 19, 2016. Pastor Earl Lindsey will officiate.
