Obituary

Gary Reid Ashlock, 69, resident of Wagoner, OK, died December 5, 2015 at Hillcrest South Hospital in Tulsa, OK.  Gary was born on January 6, 1946 to W.O. Ashlock and Dorothy Lucille Hardy Ashlock in Wagoner at the home of his mother's parents, George W.  and Elizabeth Hardy.

Gary was preceded in death by his parents and is survived by his wife, Mei Lee Tan Ashlock, of Wagoner, OK and four children: Timothy Shane Ashlock (Katherine) of Grimsley, Ontario; Sarah Lea Vasquez (Aidan) of San Antonio, TX; Kimberly Spring Ripple (Brian) of Tulsa, OK; and Emily Shea Ashlock of Midland, TX. In addition to his wife and children, Gary is survived by two brothers, Lanny O. Ashlock (Bonnie) of Conway, AR and Stanley D. Ashlock of San Marcos, TX; five Grandchildren, five uncles, three aunts and numerous cousins, nephews and nieces as well as a host of friends.

Gary was a graduate of New Mexico State University with B.S. and M.S. Degrees in Agriculture and had a long distinguished career as an educator teaching Vocational Agriculture and Science in New Mexico and Texas.  After retiring from teaching in Texas, Gary returned to New Mexico and taught science at the Zuni Indian Reservation before retiring from teaching in 2005.  Gary was an avid rock hound who also enjoyed fishing and had particular interests in horticultural pursuits.  Gary was a long time member of the Church of Christ and proudly served his country as a Hospital Corpsman in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War era.

At Mr. Ashlock's request there are no public services planned and all necessary arrangements are being handled by Mallett Funeral Home in Wagoner, OK.
