Gayle Lynn Gaither was born March 19, 1946 in Wagoner, Oklahoma, one of five children born to Hubert Arnold Johnson and Bernice (Daniels) Johnson. She graduated from Porter High School.

Gayle was married to Arthur Thomas Gaither. They were blessed with two sons, Marc Gaither and Matthew Gaither.

Gayle and Arthur were well known in Wagoner as the owners/operators of Tastee Freeze for nine years. They moved back to Wagoner from Sand Springs in 1979 and bought the business, which they ran until 1990. Gayle was a good cook, either at home or at work. She was always busy, but she still found time to be a mom who was active in supporting her sons in all of their school activities, including PTA and sports. Bowling was a hobby she enjoyed.

Gayle departed this life Thursday morning at the age of 74 years. She was preceded in death by her parents, Hubert and Bernice Johnson, a son, Matthew Gaither and her only brother, Wayne Johnson.

Survivors include her husband, Arthur Thomas Gaither; her son, Marc Gaither; grandson, Matthew Gaither, all of Wagoner, OK; three sisters, Nell Durrett of Broken Arrow, OK, Carol Cleland of Owasso, OK and Betty Benton of Tulsa, OK; a number of nieces and nephews; extended family and friends.

A memorial service will be announced at a later date.
