Funeral services for Gene Provolt, 82 of Wagoner will be at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, Feb. 19, at the Mallett Funeral Home Chapel in Wagoner with the Reverend David Jones officiating. Gene Provolt was born November 22, 1928 in Ames, Oklahoma to his parents, Millard and Velva (Hedges) Provolt. He grew up and graduated from Drummond High School in western Oklahoma. Gene enlisted in the U.S. Army and served his country during the Korean War. After his discharge, he attended OSU. Gene was united in marriage to Mary a union lasting 44 years. They made their home in Edmond for many years where Gene worked as a land surveyor for the Oklahoma Dept of Transportation. After his retirement, they moved to Wagoner in 1992. Gene was an avid golfer and was a member of the Golf Association at Sequoyah State Park. With his family at his side, he passed away peacefully Tuesday, February 15, 2011 at the Wagoner Community Hospital. Gene was preceded in death by his parents and by his wife, Mary in 2005. He is survived by his three daughters, Vicki Glenn and her husband, Les and Robin Veirs and her husband Stephen all of Edmond, OK and Martha Jean Williams of Wagoner; five grandchildren, Matthew and Diana Glenn, Chris and Rebecca Glenn, Stephen C. and Angie Veirs and Nicole Veirs and her fiancé, Charles Chappell; five great-grandchildren, Skylar, A.J., Brianna, Maxim and Zachary; two sisters, Loretta Kaupke of Braman, OK and Helen Long of Enid, OK; numerous nieces and nephews; other relatives and many friends. Pallbearers were Matthew Glenn, Stephen C. Veirs, Nicole Veirs, Tim Goins, Mike Goins and Brandon Webster. Memories and condolences for the family may be left on-line at www.mallettfuneralhome.com.
