Hoviin, Jr.
April 1, 1958 – February 22, 2024
George Arvid Hoviin Jr. was born in Waukegan, Lake County, Illinois, on April 1, 1958. He made his home in Muskogee, Oklahoma most of his life.
He was employed for a time in Muskogee as a machine operator. Later, when health problems dictated he quit working, George continued to live a fulfilling and happy life. He was a member of the Baptist faith and a devout Christian. He loved to read, and was clever enough to complete his crossword puzzles in ink.
For the past several years George made his home in Yorkshire Village in Wagoner where he made many friends and enjoyed his life there. Most recently he made his home in Pleasant Valley in Muskogee. He loved the three hot meals and especially the bingo games three times a week.
George departed this life to be with the Lord on Thursday, February 22, 2024 at Ascension St. John Medical Center in Tulsa, Oklahoma at the age of 65 years. Waiting to greet him were his parents, Virginia and George Hoviin; his brother, Eddie Hoviin; sister, Susan Hoviin; his aunt and uncle, Miriam and Leo Hook; and cousin, Theresa Gizler.
George is survived by his cousins and their spouses and families, Kathy and Roger Hayes, Jim Birchfield and Anne Turney, Sheri and Bill Elkinton, Bill and Gayle Johnson, Bob and Phyllis Johnson, Beth and Delton Boardman, Narda and Gary Johnson, and Mary and Jeff Ludwig; one niece, Dr. Heather Steinbach and her husband, Jonathon and their children, Ansley, Makenna, and Imirah; other extended family and friends.
George will be laid to rest with his family in the North Shore Garden of Memories, North Chicago, Illinois.
