George William Kirkley lived a life marked by devotion to family, quiet strength, and an appreciation for life’s simple pleasures. George passed away on June 1, 2026, in Wagoner, Oklahoma, at the age of 85.
Born on March 7, 1941, in Bakersfield, California, George was the son of Lowell and Nancy (Talley) Kirkley. During his youth, his family settled in Oklahoma, where he grew up and attended public schools in Del City. It was there that the foundation of his character was built, a character defined by hard work, loyalty, and a deep commitment to those he loved.
On November 5, 1960, George married the love of his life, Eleanor Rose Hise. Together they built a marriage that stood the test of time, sharing countless adventures, challenges, and cherished moments. Their home was filled with love, laughter, and the joy of raising their family. Through the years, George and Eleanor created a lifetime of memories that will continue to be treasured by generations to come
George spent much of his life working as an upholsterer, a trade in which he took tremendous pride. Known for his craftsmanship, attention to detail, and strong work ethic, he approached every project with care and dedication. He believed in doing a job the right way and earned the respect of many through the quality of his work. His talent and commitment left a lasting impression on those who knew him and those who benefited from his skilled hands.
George found happiness in the things that brought people together. Whether he was spending a day on the golf course, casting a line into the water hoping for the next big catch, or enjoying a spirited game of poker with friends and family, he valued the fellowship as much as the activity itself. Above all else, George’s greatest pride was his family. He cherished every opportunity to spend time with his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, celebrating their accomplishments and sharing in their lives. The legacy he leaves behind is not measured by possessions, but by the love, guidance, and memories he shared with those fortunate enough to know him.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Lowell and Nancy Kirkley; his beloved wife, Eleanor Rose Kirkley; his daughters, Kelly Renee Kirkley and Pamula Leann Kirkley-Hoover; and his siblings, Phillip Kirkley, Rosalee Kirkley-Sroufe, and David Kirkley.
Those left to cherish and honor his memory include his son and daughter-in-law, Doug and Gina Kirkley of Coweta, Oklahoma; his son-in-law, Brian Hoover; his grandchildren, Jackson Kirkley and wife, Adria, Sam Bressler and Rachel, Mitchell Kirkley, Seth Bressler and fiancée, Jalisa, Chris Hoover, Clarissa Hoover, Sophie Hoover, and Dakota Hoover and Brittany; his great-grandchildren, Lewis, Benjamin, and Elijah; along with numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends.
Though his chair may now sit empty and his voice has fallen silent, the stories, laughter, wisdom, and love George shared throughout his life will continue to live on in the hearts of those who knew him. He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered always.
Per the wishes of George Kirkley, there will be no memorial service.
The family of George Kirkley has entrusted his care and cremation to Mallett Funeral Home and Crematory, 417 East Cherokee Street, Wagoner, Oklahoma, 74467. 918-485-2911
