Obituary

Gerald Wayne "Jerry" Hickman was born in Del City, OK on January 5, 1949 to his parents, Fletcher Jack Hickman and Martha Jane (Jewell) Hickman. Jerry grew up in Wagoner and graduated from Wagoner High School in 1967. He and Janice were married on November 15, 1969.

Jerry started playing the drums in high school and continued all his life to make music with his long time band "The Cave Dwellers". Many great memories were made through the years.

Jerry retired after many years working as a telephone repairman for GTE.

He was a history buff, especially anything having to do with Wagoner's history. Jerry served as President of the Wagoner Historical Society. He was a director at the Wagoner City Museum.

Jerry will be greatly missed by his family and friends alike. Many have been impacted by Jerry's life here. He left this life on Tuesday, August 31, 2021 at his home in Wagoner, OK at the age of 72 years. Preceding him in death were his parents, Jack and Martha Hickman and a brother, Richard Hickman.

Survivors include his loving wife of fifty-one years, Janice Hickman of the home; two daughters, Teresa Randolph of Wagoner, OK and Traci Summerlin and husband, Monte of Grain Valley, MO; grandchildren, Haylee Fulps and husband, Dalton, Morgan Randolph, Ryan Summerlin, Chase Summerlin and Michael Summerlin; great-grandson, Daxon Fulps; brother Mike Hickman and his wife, Kathy of Wagoner, OK; sister, Jacque Shepherd and husband, Bill of Skiatook, OK; extended family and many friends.

A visitation will be held Friday evening from 5-7 pm.

The funeral service celebrating Jerry's life will be at 10 am Saturday, September 4, 2021 in the Chapel at Mallett Funeral Home. The Reverend Terry Presley will officiate.

Interment will be in Elmwood Cemetery in Wagoner, OK. The pallbearers will be Mike Marrs, Sonny DeGraw, Danny Sleeper, Harry Dail, John Randolph and Mike McMahan. Honorary pallbearers will be Bobby Whitekiller, Mark Spriggs, Pete Clark, Ronnie Sunday and Billy Barney.
