Obituary

Glen Joseph Brown was born April 3, 1914 in Pindall, Arkansas to Maggie (Keithley) and George Washington Brown, who preceded him in death. He lived most of his life in Hulbert, OK, where he and his wife, Viola, raised their family and enjoyed a life of farming and ranching. They were married for seventy years until her passing in 2008. Glen served in the United States Army. He worked in several lumber companies, including Flintco and Dixon-Graham and was employed at Wagoner Lumber and Corbin Ranch for many years. Glen liked animals and enjoyed country music. He was always welcoming to his family's friends, all who called him "Grandpa". He was a wonderful story teller and a good harmonica player. His family has many cherished memories to comfort them. Glen died Tuesday, May 8, 2012 in Tahlequah, OK, the last of his siblings, just a month past his 98th birthday. He is survived by his three children, Shirley Brown of Wagoner, Barbara Noe and her husband, John, of Hulbert, and Dwight Brown of Wagoner; twelve grandchildren, Lonnie Clapp of the home, Joe Ray Clapp of Wagoner, Barbara jean Matthews of Muskogee, Anita Blair of Washington, Greg blair of Wagoner, Mike Kirkpatrick of Broken arrow, Ok, Michelle Kirkpatrick of Florida, Brad Kirkpatrick of Wagoner, Deanna Brown of Fort Gibson, OK, Ethan Brown of Muskogee, April Gilmore of Broken Arrow and Adam Brown of Muskogee; eighteen great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; other relatives and friends. A visitation will be held from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Thursday at Mallett Funeral Home in Wagoner. A graveside funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, May 11, 2012 at Fort Gibson National Cemetery. Military Honors will be provided by the Oklahoma Army National Guard. Officiates will be Mr. Larry Brown and Mr. Gene Hunt. Honorary pallbearers will be Jack Chiliho, Ernie Durawa, Matt Clapp, Joe Clapp, Gene Hunt Jr., Wayne Brumfield, Kyle Neal, Frank Rankins and E.C. Jones. Arrangements are by Mallett Funeral Home in Wagoner.
