Obituary

Funeral services for Guy L. Fryhover, 84, of Wagoner will be held at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, May 29, 2014 at Hillcrest Freewill Baptist Church in Wagoner with the Reverend Francis Berka officiating. Interment will follow at Floral Haven Cemetery in Broken Arrow, OK. A Visitation will be held Wednesday, May 28 from 5-7 p.m. at Mallett Funeral Home. Guy was born November 1, 1929 in Turpin, Oklahoma to George Daniel and Hazel Pat (Brown) Fryhover. His family moved to west Tulsa where he grew up and graduated from Daniel Webster High School. He began as a store keeper at a supply company before enlisting in the U.S. Army and serving in the Korean War. After the War, Guy returned to Tulsa and worked for many years at the Texaco and Sinclair Refineries in west Tulsa. After his retirement, he moved to the lake area near Wagoner to enjoy his time fishing and traveling. Guy was a dedicated member of the V.F.W. and a member of their Honor Guard. He was a founding and active member of the Wagoner County Senior Citizens. Guy served as a church Deacon beginning as a young man and was a member of the Hillcrest Freewill Baptist Church of Wagoner at the time of his passing. Guy passed away Monday, May 26, 2014 at Eastar Medical Center in Muskogee. Guy was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Iris Ellen (McCann) Fryhover in 1992; his brothers, Robert Daniel and Alfred Dean Fryhover; a sister, Donna Jean Hardison; a grandson and a great-grandchild. He is survived by his wife, Lois Evelyn Fryhover of the home; his children, Vicki Hewitt of Helena, Montana, Ricki Fryhover and wife, Ronna of Beggs, OK, Guy Fryhover Jr. of Irving, TX, Lisa Schneider of Tulsa, OK and Kimberly Spencer also of Tulsa; a step-son, Charles Rogers of Tulsa, OK; 11 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Georgia Gardner and husband, Harold and Gale Sue Bowman and husband, Donnie all of Kellyville, OK; many nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends. Pallbearers will be Rick Fryhover, Guy Fryhover, Jr., Charles Rogers, Randy Fryhover, Todd Swanson, Chris Victory, Justin Schneider, and Jerry Victory. Honorary pallbearers will be Bailey Hewitt, Ty Hewitt, Kenny Schneider, and Talon Swanson. Military honors will be performed by Donaghe-Elliot American Legion Post 56.
