Obituary

Guy A. Gaylor was born November 18, 1938 in Wagoner, Oklahoma, one of eight children born to Haroland and Mabel (Ashwood) Gaylor. After graduation from Wagoner High School Guy attended Northeastern State College before serving in the United States Army. He married Mary Ella Lightsey on September 2, 1965, and they began a loving and devoted marriage for nearly 50 years. Guy was dedicated to his family and always enjoyed activities involving his sons. He was a Boy Scout leader and loved coaching baseball and watching Guy Allen and Adam in all of their activities. Guy contributed much to his community through his work in many organizations. He was elected and served for many years on the Wagoner City Council and was elected by his fellow Councilors to the office of President of the Council and Vice-Mayor for several terms. In earlier days he served as Chairman of the Wagoner County Young Democrats and Senator of the Jaycee organization. In recognition of his civic service and many contributions to the betterment of Wagoner Guy was named Chamber of Commerce Citizen of the Year. Guy was an active member of the First Christian Church. He enjoyed participating in the Pairs and Spares Sunday school class and served as a deacon and elder in his church before becoming an elder emeritus. He enjoyed singing in the church choir for thirty years. Guy was a well-respected building contractor. His work is well represented in both commercial and private buildings and homes around town. Guy departed this life, and, in his own words, "graduated" to his heavenly home on Sunday, March 8, 2015 in Tulsa, Oklahoma. He was preceded in death by his parents, Haroland and Mabel Gaylor, his mother-in-law, Laura Wilson; a brother, Lee Gaylor; a sister, Ruth Ann Gaylor; and a niece, Missy Gaylor. He is survived by his caring wife, Mary Gaylor; two sons and daughters-in-law, Guy Allen and Jill Gaylor and Grant Adam and Kinsey Gaylor; three grandchildren, Jase Gaylor, Addyson Gaylor and Cason Gaylor; five siblings and their spouses, Donna Jenkins and her friend, Richard Bealle, Lillian Turley, Linda and John French, RayDon and Linda Gaylor and Mike and Carline Gaylor; numerous nieces and nephews; other relatives and friends.
