Hairl Gene Sampson, 86, of Coweta, formerly Climax, KS passed away on October 2, 2018 at home with family.
A memorial will be at 11:00 am on October 12, 2018 at Mallet Funeral Home in Wagoner, OK.
Hairl was born in Connerville, OK to Iveland and Hazel Sampson March 22, 1932. In 1962 he married his lifelong love, Leona Marie Boland. He was a self-employed drywall construction owner for many years before retiring in 1994.
He was an avid coon hunter most all of his life. "Whosoever loveth me, loveth my hound". He enjoyed time fishing, deer hunting and bird watching with all his family and friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Iveland Tony Sampson and Hazel Fern Schultz Sampson, one brother, Earl James Sampson, two sisters, Garrett Inez Sampson and Willie Juanita Gordon and one son, Timmy Lee Whitcomb and one grandson, Daniel Gene Sampson.
He is survived by his wife, Leona Marie Sampson of the home, six living children, Darrell Gene Sampson (Ruby) of Decatur, TX, Gary Lynn Sampson (Amanda) Texarkana, TX, Donald Ray Sampson (Amanda) Norman, OK, Larry Allen Whitcomb (Debbie) Clearwater, KS, Nancy Gayle Olson (Craig) Eureka, KS and Sherry June Sampson Valentine Broken Arrow, OK and 21 grandchildren plus many great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren and one sister Annie Mae Brotherton of Sun Lake, Arizona.
The family wishes to extend our sincere thanks to Saint Francis Hospice and everyone who has been a part of his wonderful life.
