Obituary

Harlan Ray Dobbs was born Sept. 18, 1939 to John Thomas and Lola (Milford) Dobbs in Blackwell, OK, where he spent his early years. He then he moved to Wilburton where he graduated high school. On June 26, 1960, Harlan was united in marriage to Florence Elizabeth Wilson in Ponca City, OK. They moved to Wagoner and then to Tulsa where Harlan began his career of over 30 years as a sheet metal mechanic with Rockwell International. He also drove trucks for Brand Export in Tulsa and after his retirement in 2001, Harlan and Beth returned to the lake area near Wagoner. He was an avid outdoorsman, enjoyed fishing, quail and deer hunting and loved shooting skeet and trap. Harlan served as President and Skeet Chairman in the Oil Capital Rod and Gun Club and the North American Rockwell Gun Club. He passed away Tuesday, Aug. 19, 2014 at his home at the age of 74. Harlan was preceded in death by his parents; his step-father; his sister and his youngest son, John Franklin Dobbs in 1994. He is survived his wife of 54 years, Beth, of the home; a son, Harlan W. Dobbs of Lawton, OK; 5 grandchildren, Lane Henry and Jayme Lynne Dobbs of Fletcher, OK and John Thomas, Donald Ray and Andrea Michele Dobbs; 3 great-grandchildren, Wyatt Austin, Liam Carter and Carson Andrew Dobbs; one brother, Harold A. Dobbs and wife, Donna of Golden, MO and a sister, Durella Jenkins and husband, Charles of Blackwell, OK; other relatives and many friends. Funeral services for Harlan will be at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, Aug. 23 at the Mallett Funeral Home Chapel in Wagoner with Mr. Roger Hall presiding. Interment will follow in Mt. Olive Cemetery near Nardin, OK.
