Harold Richard Martinson was born December 16, 1929 in St. Paul, MN to Harold and Pauline (Gibson) Martinson. He departed this life February 10, 2020 in Overland Park, Kansas, where he had made his home.
Harold was a veteran of World War II and the Korean War, having served in the United States Navy. He was retired from the Oklahoma Employment Security Commission.
While making his home in Wagoner, OK Harold was very active in his community. He was a founding member of the Wagoner Chapter of Jaycees and worked at the Western Hills Guest Lodge at Sequoyah State Park shortly after the resort opened.
An avid bowler, Harold was a member of the first Wagoner bowling team to win a state championship; he bowled a perfect 300 game and placed in a national tournament if Las Vegas, NV.
He was a lifelong Oklahoma University Sooners fan and attended several games and a few bowl games.
Harold's survivors will always remember him as a devoted family man who loved his family and was intensely loved by them.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife, June Martinson, whom he married May 18, 2002, of the home in Overland Park, KS; a brother, Robert Martinson and wife, Deb of Saint Maries, ID; two sons, Kyle Martinson and wife, Elaine of Rockford, IL and Steve Martinson of Tulsa, OK; a daughter, Kelly Martin of Overland Park, KS; two stepsons, Dana Letts and wife, Deborah of Wagoner, OK and Bill Roark and wife, Katie of Lee's Summit, MO; two stepdaughters, Heather Sachariason and husband, Tom of Parkville, MO and Amy Roark and Jesper Nielsen of Overland, Park, KS; eighteen grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren, as well as numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
Friends and family will gather to celebrate his life with a memorial service at 1:00 pm Friday, March 13, 2020 in the Chapel at Mallett Funeral Home and Crematory, 417 East Cherokee Street, Wagoner, OK. The Reverend Wade Robertson will officiate.
In lieu of flowers, the family request memorials be made to the American Heart Association.
Interment in Bennett Addition of Elmwood Cemetery will be private.
