Harvey Dale Hunter, beloved father, husband and son departed from us on June 1, 2009. Harvey was born on November 3, 1946 to T. H. and Mary Hunter in Boynton, OK. After graduating from Wagoner High School in 1965 he entered the Army in 1966 doing his basic training at Ft. Eustis, VA and then served one year in Germany and one year in Vietnam. While serving his country, Harvey received the Combat Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, National Defense Medal and Cross of Gallantry with Palm Medal. His honorable discharge was in 1968 and he then attended Northeastern State University receiving his degree in Business Administration. Harvey started dating the love of his life, Arlene Hays, in 1969 and married her on August 5, 1972. From this union of marriage Harvey and Arlene had two beautiful girls, Kristin and Lyndsey. Harvey was a very caring father and played a major role in their lives. They were a family that loved being together whether traveling, going to the girls' softball games or just spending time together. Harvey was a versatile person and had many interests including aircraft and photography. His enjoyment of photography later turned in to a business in 1975, Harvey Hunter Photography. He served as the church photographer for Evangelistic Temple in Tulsa, OK and stayed busy with his photography in Wagoner, OK doing senior pictures, weddings and family portraits. Harvey was very dedicated to anything he did in life and will be greatly missed by so many. He was an excellent example of what a husband and father should be and made this world a better place to all that loved him. Survived by his wife, Arlene, daughter and son-in-law, Kristin and Darrek Voyles, daughter and son-in-law, Lyndsey and Paul Stuart, 5 grandchildren, Easton, Cameron, Hayden, Madelyn and Maxwell, mother, Mary Hunter, sister, Janette, numerous relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his father, T.H. (Red) Hunter, his sister, Judy Woods and grandparents, Steve and Bess Hunter and Ed and Pearl Tindall. Services will be 2:00 pm Thursday, June 4, 2009 at First Baptist Church, Wagoner, OK followed by burial at Elmwood Cemetery. Pallbearers include Phillip Driskill, Gordon Dorr, Ron Skeen, Gayle Thornton, Dennis Hays, Mike Hays, Frankie Hays and Ronnie Hays. Honorary pallbearers are David Hays and Roland Kittredge. Friends who wish to view may call at Mallett Funeral Home in Wagoner on Wednesday until seven and Thursday until twelve.
