Obituary

"We reflect on a notable life!" Hayes C. Robbins A Baby Boy was born to Hayes C. and Edna Mae (Newton) Robbins Sr. on November 12, 1933, in Gibson Station, Oklahoma, and they named him Hayes C. Robbins, Jr. Hayes grew up a happy child. While living there he attended Phyllis Wheatley Elementary and Lincoln High School in Wagoner, OK. At the tender age of twelve he joined St. John Baptist Church where, in 1997 he became Deacon. (His favorite song was "This Little Light of Mine") He was a man of many talents and had a deep love for fishing, playing dominos and all sports. He was also on the roster for the LA Dodgers. He was affectionately known as "Hog-AKA Pig Robbins" to many of his employers and those who knew him. Hayes retired from the City of Wagoner after 17 years plus of service. As a young man he met and married Addie Mae Ray in 1953. There were two children born to this union. Later on in life he met and married Geneva Draper on August 29, 1992. To this union no children were born. On September 5, 2014 Hayes left us to be in the arms of God. Those who preceded him in death were his parents, a sister and a granddaughter. He leaves to cherish his memory, his wife, Geneva Robbins of the home; six sons, Kenneth (Von) King, Wagoner, OK, D'Andra (Rose Mary) Cook, Omaha, NE, Stevie Clayton, Sacramento, CA, Gregory (Cynthia) Robbins, Brian K. Robbins, Wagoner, Micco Robbins, Seattle, WA and Antwione Robbins, Broken Arrow, OK; six daughters, Anna Robbins Robinson, Tulsa, OK, Pamela Robbins Sloan, Tulsa, OK, Quinceola Cook, Omaha, NE, Rhonda Chatman, McKinney, TX, Wanda Bryant, Dallas, TX and Trachelle Wynn, Las Vegas, NV; one sister, Willa Mae Wright, Wagoner, OK; five brothers-in-law, Pleasant Draper, Rufus (Louella) Draper, both of Wichita, KS, Sherman (Carlene) West, Kansas City, KS, Robert Draper, Haskell, OK and James (Roucita) Draper, Haskell, OK; two sisters-in-law, Rose Draper, Haskell, OK and Thelma Draper, Tulsa, OK; thirty grandchildren and a host of great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews, and other relatives. His sister (Willa), niece (Gayla),and nephew, (Earl Wright Jr. and wife, Velva and daughters, Katrina and Abigail), were very vital in the provision of his care during his time of need. Thank you in a very special way, and to those special caregivers, cousins Maggie Lollis and Phyllis Tottress, stepdaughters, Rhonda Chatman and Wanda Bryant. To Rivercross Hospice, thank you. Your care demonstrated professionalism, dignity, and most important, compassion. Thank you, Rev. Tim Boyett for the use of the First Assembly of God. A Wake and Visitation will be held from 4-8 p.m. Friday, September 12 at the St. John Baptist Church in Gibson Station. The Homegoing Celebration will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, September 13 at the First Assembly of God Church in Wagoner, with the Reverend Walter Brown, Jr. officiating. Pallbearers will be Pillar Edwards, Jerry Lyons, Tim Wright, Stevie Lyons, Ricky Lyons, Jimmy Butler, Allen Lyons, Todd King, and Darryl Benson. Honorary pallbearers will be Robert Jackson Sr., Bill Gravitt, Arthur Lee Bell, Leon James, Dorniel Holmes, Desmond Holmes, Raymond Cotton, Billie Cade, A.B. Sanders, Deacon Lionel Hytche, Howard Abernathy, Louis Chatman III, Carrington Chatman, Terrance Tottress and Lee Hosey. Flower Girls will be Keisha Blandon, Gladys Brown, Treva Blandon, Jaliqua Moore, Patsina Moore, Deliah Asher, Darlene Borens, JoAnn Ervin, Gina Lou Lewis and Shirley Smith. Honorary Flower Girls will be Leola Lyons, Joyce Jackson, Gertrude Blandon, Geraldine Benson, Sister Sherry LeLand, Sister Janet Ashley, Donna Ford, Faye Abernathy, Sharon Penn and Maggie Lollis. Interment will be in Evergreen Cemetery in Gibson Station.
