Dr. Helen Lucinda "Cinda" Franklin of Wagoner died the evening of Sunday, October 24 after a 3 year battle with breast cancer. She was 67.

Cinda grew up in Wagoner and attended the University of Oklahoma, where she met her future husband Wayne in the Pride (Marching Band). After some years as a typesetter, she began a second phase of life by enrolling in the OU Medical School -- with three children under ten. Upon earning her M.D. she was Chief Resident for the Family Practice program then practiced medicine in Claremore where she served her patients and the community for 25 years, including acting as founding physician for the Rogers County Free Clinic.

Cinda was a staunch advocate for the rights and dignity of the oppressed, often volunteering for the needs of minorities and the disenfranchised, most notably as a longtime-supporter of Rogers County Adult Day Care.  A follower of the teachings of Jesus Christ, she held membership in multiple churches throughout Oklahoma, with extended fellowship at First Christian in Claremore, serving as a deacon, elder, and choir member.

Cinda is survived by her husband of 45 years John Wayne Franklin, children John Patrick (Lisa), Jack Allen, and Lucinda "Lucy" Ann, and grandchildren Lillian, Finn, and Indira. In addition she is survived by her mother Jane Cochran, a brother, and two sisters. She was preceded by her father Jack.
