Helen Marie (Boren) Marrs was born November 27, 1922 to James R. Euclyde Boren and Almeda (Goode) Boren. She graduated from H.S. Rex Roat High School in southern Oklahoma. She married Samuel Rex Marrs JR, who served in the military, and so Helen moved with him to many places, including Virginia and Texas. They lived in Norman, OK for a while before settling in Wagoner, where she has made her home since 1954. Helen truly loved both flower and vegetable gardening. She especially loved to grow sunflowers for the wild birds of which she was so fond. Helen's life was best expressed in her role of mother and grandmother. Her children and grandchildren were her greatest joy in life. Helen departed this life on Friday, July 27, 2012 at her home in Wagoner, just four months before her ninetieth birthday. She was preceded in death by her husband, Samuel Rex Marrs JR; her parents; a grandson, Randy Marrs; two sisters, Lavena and Martha, brother, James Robert, and a niece, Cindy Marrs. Survivors include her four sons, Sammy Marrs and his wife, Virginia, of Hulbert, OK, Richard Marrs and Yvonne, Mike Marrs, and Robert Marrs, all of Wagoner; a daughter, Mary Almeda Marrs of Claremore, OK; two sisters, Carrie Uzzel of Madill, OK and Margaret; sixteen grandchildren; numerous great and great-great grandchildren; other relatives and friends. A graveside funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, August 1, 2012 at the Fort Gibson National Cemetery in Fort Gibson, OK.
