V Helen Louise (VanTuyl) Smith was born October 3, 1927 in Porter, Oklahoma to Charles and Florence (Cook) VanTuyl. After high school Helen attended business college. She was employed as a secretary for McDonnell Douglas prior to her retirement. Helen liked to attend church, and she enjoyed crochet and crossword puzzles. She had been active in the Rebeccas for many years. Helen departed this life on Friday, December 11, 2015 at her home in Wagoner. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, George R. Smith; and siblings, Celia Workman, Ira VanTuyl, Jay VanTuyl, Alfred VanTuyl, Donald VanTuyl, Olla Mae Satterfield and Paul VanTuyl. Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Jim and Charlotte Easley of Porter, Oklahoma; a daughter and son-in-law, Sandra and Albert Lang, Jr. of Porter, Oklahoma; grandchildren, Dana and Rob Adney of Porter, Oklahoma, Cheryl and Scott Gaddy of Fort Gibson, Oklahoma, Jeff and Christy Easley of Tulsa, Oklahoma, Sally Lang of Porter, Oklahoma and Sara and David Hallum of Porter, Oklahoma; a sister-in-law, Mary VanTuyl of Coweta, Oklahoma; twelve great-grandchildren; one great great-grandaughter; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends; and her beloved pets, Sugar and Annie. The funeral service was held at 2:00 P.M. Monday, December 14, 2015 at Mallett Funeral Home Chapel in Wagoner. Dan Fredman, Roy Essary, and Don Essary officiated. Interment was in Greenwood Cemetery in Porter, Oklahoma. Pallbearers were Norman Satterfield, Coleman Satterfield, Van Satterfield, Terry VanTuyl, Charles VanTuyl, and Steve VanTuyl. Honorary pallbearers were Gary Workman and David Workman.
