Graveside funeral services for Henry Leroy Gordon, 61 of Wagoner were held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, Nov. 2 at the Ft. Gibson National Cemetery with the Reverend Mark Pointer officiating. Henry Leroy Gordon was born Nov. 5, 1947 in St. Louis, MO to his parents, Herbert C. and Delanna (Schwartz) Gordon. At an early age his family moved to the Okay, OK area where Henry grew up and graduated from high school. Shortly after, he enlisted in the U.S. Army and fought in Vietnam. After his service to his country, Henry worked as a mechanic on heavy equipment, generators and in the airline industry for McDonell-Douglas. He enjoyed being a technician and would read mechanics manuals, educating himself on engine repair. He became an expert on marine engines and worked for several years around Okay and Wagoner. Henry enjoyed the precision of target shooting and the work involved in making targets and experimenting reloading ammunition. He made several friendships at the local shooting club. Henry passed away Friday, Oct. 30, 2009 at his home in Wagoner, just 7 days before his 62nd birthday. Henry was preceded in death by his parents and by a half-brother, William Gordon. He is survived by his wife, Wanda, of the home; his step-children, Bill Swan Jr. and his wife, Toni of Tahlequah, Kathy Apple and her husband, Derek, of Muskogee and Mary Lewis and her husband, Chris of Broken Arrow; step-grandchildren, Amanda and A.J. Gambel and their son, Aiden, and Alycia and Andria Lewis; a brother, Herb Gordon; aunts, Rosalee Ashby and Roxie Newbrough; cousins, Jackie and Dan Morris, Theresa Grayson and Frank Ashby; a special friend, T.J. Morris; other relatives and friends. Military rites were performed by the V.F.W. 5th District, Honor Guard.
