Henry C. "H.C." Patrick was born January 17, 1922 in Jethro, Arkansas to Johnny Clay and Zula (Nixon) Patrick. He joined the United States Army in 1940 and served until his honorable discharge in 1945. H.C. was very proud of his service to his country. He served in the Medical Corps as a surgical technician in the 45th Infantry and participated in four invasions during World War II. His stations included Sicily, Naples-Foggia, Southern France, Rome-Arno and the Rhineland. He was awarded the EAME Service Ribbon, Silver Service Star, American Defense Service Ribbon, and the Bronze Star.
Following his military service H.C. was married to the former Betty Jo Hagel on November 24, 1946. They enjoyed a long and happy life together for 69 years. They have been long time members of the First Baptist Church, and worked together providing the church dinners.
H.C. was first and foremost a dairy farmer, but he had many other occupations during his life, in particular as a rural route mail carrier for USPS in Wagoner and as an employee for the City of Wagoner in the water treatment plant.
H.C. departed this life late Thursday, March 3, 2016 at Saint Francis Hospital in Tulsa. He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Ruth Turnham and Betty Kennedy.
Survivors include his wife, Betty Patrick of the home; three children and their spouses, Patricia and Ronnie Sunday, Debbie and Ray Weese, and Dennis and Lori Patrick, all of Wagoner; eight grandchildren and their spouses, Dustin and Katrina Weese of Coweta, Natalie and Phil Wilkinson of Coalgate, Ashley and Jeff Mullins of Wagoner, Emily Patrick and Shuana Roberson of Coweta, Amanda Watkins, Erin Patrick, Ashley Morris, and Kayla Glover, all of Wagoner; eleven great-grandchildren; two sisters, Jean Jones and Vera Lawhorn; many other relatives and friends.
The family and friends will gather for a Visitation Sunday afternoon from 2:00 P.M.-4:00 P.M. at Mallett Funeral Home and Crematory in Wagoner
The Funeral will be at 10:00 A.M. Monday, March 7, 2016 at the First Baptist Church in Wagoner. The Reverend Mark Pointer will officiate.
Interment will be in Elmwood Cemetery in Wagoner. Serving as pallbearers will be members of the American Legion Post 56, Coweta, Oklahoma, who will provide Military Honors.
