Obituary

Hermenia Unger Moore died December 31, 2013 in Muskogee, Oklahoma. Mrs. Moore was born October 1, 1916 at Oakdale, Tennessee, the daughter of Curtis Gustavus and Arlevia Anne Miller Unger, the fifth of nine children. She graduated from Oakdale High School and attended business college in Knoxville, Tennessee before marrying her high school sweetheart, George Berton Moore in Rossville, Georgia in 1935. Hermenia lived in Oakdale until 2009 when she moved to Wagoner, Oklahoma to live with her daughter. She loved to travel and had visited many foreign countries with members of her family. She belonged to the Lutheran Church until she was married and then became a very active member of the Oakdale Methodist Church. A longtime resident of the Pine Orchard community, Mrs. Moore leaves many dear friends there. She loved the serenity of her farm home and the countryside. Hermenia was preceded in death by her husband, G.B., and by her first granddaughter, Anne Broyes, as well as two brothers and three sisters. Mrs. Moore is survived by a sister, Lillian Brown, of Louisville, Kentucky and one brother, Otto Unger, Of Oliver Springs, Tennessee. She leaves her two daughters, Frances Franklin Ooten of Kingston, Tennessee and Jean Lancaster of Wagoner, Oklahoma. She is survived by four grandchildren, Valerie Junttila of Chantilly, Virginia, Jay Franklin of Knoxville, Tennessee, David Edwards of Vienna, Virginia and Randy Franklin of Knoxville, Tennessee, as well as nine great-grandchildren. Funeral services are pending.
