Obituary

Funeral services for Howard Leon Lawson, 78 of Hulbert, Oklahoma will be at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, July 7, 2010 at the Mallett Funeral Home Chapel in Wagoner with the Reverend Phil Buford officiating. Howard was born May 8, 1932 in Eli, Oklahoma to his parents, Ira Onus and Maggie Marie (Watkins) Lawson. He worked most of his life as a plumber and pipe fitter and was a member of the Pipe Fitters Union Local No. 430. However, all of his life Howard was a true outdoorsman. He loved working the land, riding tractors, baling hay and gardening. He enjoyed caring for his cattle, roping and riding horses. Howard was also generous in sharing his knowledge with family and friends of the things he loved most. Surrounded by his family, Howard passed this life Sunday, July 4, 2010 at St. Francis Hospital in Tulsa. Howard was preceded in death by his parents; his step-father, Coy Sol' Young; three brothers, Bob Lawson, Bill Lawson and Charles Lindberg Lawson; three sisters, Iris Purget, Wanda Nicholas and Inez Foster and his father and mother-in-law, Clarence and Beatrice (Charles) Rogers. He is survived by his wife, Thelma Jean (Rogers) Lawson of the home; two daughters, Lorestia Jean Buford and her husband, Phillip also of Hulbert, Patsy Ann Glover and her husband, Justin of Warner, OK; a son, David Leon Lawson and hi wife, Beth of Newcastle, OK; four grandchildren; a great-granddaughter; five brothers, Jack young and his wife, Barbara and Jay Young of Hulbert, Coy Young Jr. and his wife, Maggie of Tahlequah, Les Lawson and Bud Lawson both of California; a sister, Jackie Skaggs also of California; many nieces and nephews; other relatives and many friends. Pallbearers for Mr. Lawson will be Ronnie Lawson, Bobby Harold Lawson, Aaron Ellis, Dwayne Rogers, Bryan Young and Olen Purget. Honorary pallbearers will be Ralph Purget, Sonny Lawson, Jimmy Lawson, John Nichol, Larry Rogers, Keith Hood and Stan Rutherford. Funeral arrangements and interment in the I.O.O.F. Cemetery in Hulbert are directed by Mallett Funeral Home of Wagoner.
