Obituary

Harce Ray "H.R." Hatfield was born June 29, 1922 in Hulbert, Oklahoma. He grew up in Stillwell, Oklahoma and left home early to go to Wagoner and join the CCC Camp in order to earn a living and support his family during the economic depression of that time. He later completed his basic education and went on to earn an Associated Degree.

He married the former Mary Louise Calvelege on April 12, 1941, and they began a long and happy marriage that spanned more than 74 years. In 1943 H.R. entered the U.S. Navy and served in Okinawa with the Sea Bees. He was honorably discharged in 1946 and returned to Mary Lou and to Wagoner.

Before retirement H.R. was an electrical engineer for the federal government. He previously worked for the City of Wagoner Electric Department for a while. He was a hard worker and faithful in his relationships with work, friends, family and God. He was a long time member of the First Baptist Church where he was a close member of the church family. In his later years H.R. remained independent to the point of continuing to mow his own yard until a few years ago.

H.R. departed this life Saturday, January 13, 2018 in Tulsa, Oklahoma at the age of 95 years. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Louise Hatfield; his parents and all four siblings.

Left to cherish his memory are his daughter and son-in-law, Mary Nell and Don Neal Sr. of Wagoner; two grandchildren and their spouses, Don Jr. and Tommie Neal of Wagoner and Melinda Louise and Jay Keeton of Clever, Missouri; seven great-grandchildren, Kristen Ilene Mallett and her husband, Joseph, Courtney Dawn Neal, all of Wagoner, Michaela Keeton of Stillwater, Jacob Lee Neal Keeton of Clever, Hayden Rafe Neal, Jorden Cassady Neal and Mason Luke Neal, all of Wagoner; one great great-granddaughter, Alyssia Neal of Wagoner; extended family and many friends.

A graveside funeral service will be held at 1:30 PM Thursday in Elmwood Cemetery in Wagoner, Oklahoma. The Reverend Mark Pointer will officiate.
