IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Jack
Henderson
March 11, 1925 – March 6, 2020
Walter Jackson "Jack" Henderson was born March 11, 1925 in Hulbert, OK to William Lawrence Henderson and Lillian Oliver (Gott) Henderson. He was raised in the Ray Community, now a part of Sequoyah State Park, in a family who were gifted with a talent and love for music. From an early age Jack participated in the family's singing and playing. He continued to play the bass guitar in church and also loved to play the banjo. His favorite kind of music was bluegrass gospel.
Jack was a true "Jack of all trades." Through his life he taught himself many skills, learned and worked in plumbing, heat and air, construction, real estate, drafting and civil and mechanical engineering. He built two dams in Oklahoma, designed several Walmart stores and designed, built and sold a number of homes in Sapulpa, OK, in addition to building his family's homes along the way. He also was a teacher at Tulsa Tech, sharing his knowledge and skills with others.
As much as Jack loved music, he loved the game of baseball with the same enthusiasm. Although baseball was his sport of choice for many years, Jack learned later in life to enjoy watching other sports with family.
Jack and his wife lived a long and happy life together. They made their home in a number of area cities, including Wagoner, Tulsa, Broken Arrow and Sapulpa, finally settling in Coweta, OK.
Jack departed this life Friday, March 6, 2020 in Tulsa, OK at the age of 94 years. He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Bill and two sisters, Cherry and Katherine.
He is survived by his wife, Veda Lorene Henderson of Coweta, OK; two sons, Tom Henderson of Broken Arrow, OK and Harry Henderson and his wife, Betty of Dewey, OK; one brother, Omar Lee Henderson and his wife, Myrna of Rose, OK; grandchildren and their spouses, Heather and Jason Wilson of Dewey, OK, Lisa and Jeff Byrd of Bixby, OK, Wesley and Tonya Henderson of Skiatook, OK and Brandy and Brett Robertson of Tahlequah, OK; great-grandchildren, Chase Wilson, Isaac Byrd, Nate Byrd, Zach Byrd, Eli Byrd, Rowan Henderson, Dax Henderson, Kaleb Brewer, Tucker Cluff and Deegan Robertson; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
