Jackie Clyde
Green
June 7, 1941 – October 10, 2023
Jackie Clyde Green was born June 7, 1941, in Maud, OK to Roy and Sarah Olivia (Schrader) Green. He played football in high school, and later attended college. He served in the United States Air Force from 1959-1963 as a jet engine mechanic with the rank of airman 1st Class.
After serving in the Air Force Jackie began his professional life at Livingston Oil Company in Ringwood, followed by Champlain Oil Company in Enid. He worked with B.F. Goodrich from 1966-1968. From there Jackie joined the Miami Police Department until 1975.
Jackie and his family moved to Wagoner, and he went to work for Greyhound for 11 ½ years before joining the Oklahoma Turnpike Authority as a toll booth attendant for 18 ½ years. He retired in 2003.
Jackie married the former Barbara Carlene Pollard on May 17, 1966. They enjoyed 57 years of marriage. Jackie had many interests and hobbies, and life was never dull. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, boating, swimming and attending dirt track racing. He won several trophies for marksmanship. He enjoyed OU sports. Jackie's favorite music was bluegrass and country, so it follows that his favorite dance was the two-step. His early interest in aircraft stayed with him throughout his life, as seen in his hobby of building and flying model gas powered airplanes. His family will always remember how he loved telling jokes.
