A memorial service for James Arthur Mills, 88, of Inola, Oklahoma was held at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, July 23, 2008 at the Will Rogers United Methodist Church in Tulsa with the Reverend David Burris officiating. Jim was born September 10, 1919 in Carnegie, Pennsylvania to Josiah and Wilhemina (Partika) Mills. He grew up in Carnegie, graduating from high school there. Jim was a veteran, serving his country in the U.S. Army Air Corp during World War II as a flight instructor. Moving to Tulsa in 1959, Jim worked mostly in the housing industry as a residential designer. After retirement, he moved to Inola, OK in 1991. Jim enjoyed his work as an ordained minister and loved to preach and sing. Jim passed away Sunday, July 20, 2008 at St. Francis Hospital in Tulsa. Jim was preceded in death by his parents and by his brother, William Mills. He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Carol Elizabeth (Pugh) Mills of the home; his son, J.R. Mills and his wife, Marilynn of Broken Arrow, three daughters, Sharon Frizzell and her husband, Bill of Oklahoma City, Lyn Krebs of Tulsa and Carol Beth Hinman and her husband, David of Port Lavaca, Texas; 12 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; a brother Bobby Mills; other relatives and friends.
