Obituary

The funeral service for James Carol Martin will be at 10:30 AM Wednesday, July 16, 2008 at the First Baptist Church in Wagoner. The Reverend Mark Pointer and the Reverend Wayne Naugher will officiate. Interment will be in Pioneer Cemetery in Wagoner. Grandsons will serve as pallbearers and include Jeff Halfacre, Chris Halfacre, Nathan Moorison, Jason Beeler, J.C. Martin and Scott Martin. The men of James' Sunday School Class will serve as honorary pallbearers. James was born March 7, 1934 in Coweta, OK to James A. and Gail B. (Gaylor) Martin. At eight years of age he moved with his family to Wagoner where he lived until his graduation from Wagoner High School. James moved to Tulsa where he lived much of his adult life and where he worked for more than forty years at Norris Sucker Rods. During that time he attended classes at T.J.C. James had made Wagoner his home for the past fourteen years, but remained an avid fan of T.U. football and liked to attend games. He was a member of the First Baptist Church and enjoyed yard work, wood crafting and riding his tractor. James Carol Martin departed this life on Sunday, July 13, 2008 at his home in Wagoner, OK. He was preceded in death by his parents. Survivors include his wife, Florence Martin of the home; his children and their spouses, Gail R. and Thomas Good of Hampton, VA, Jimmy and Sherri Martin of Marlow, OK; Ricky L. Martin of Sulphur, OK; Mike and Kathy Morrison of Mounds, Ok, David and Rosemary Morrison of Wagoner; Tommy and Sharon Biffle of Wagoner and James and Janett Halfacre of Wagoner; twenty-seven grandchildren; fifteen great grandchildren; one brother, Howard L. Martin, of Wagoner, three sisters, Barbara Eyman, Mary Jo Blair and Janet Cummings, all of Wagoner; other relatives and friends.
