James Albert Morgan was born September 29, 1946 in Jasper, Arkansas to James Willie Morgan and Pauline (Craig) Morgan. He lived most of his life in Oklahoma, including Checotah and Broken Arrow. For the past three years he made his home in Muskogee, OK
James was employed as a diesel mechanic and most recently was employed by G.C.C. Concrete Company.
In his spare time James enjoyed growing vegetables and flowers and watching hummingbirds. His favorite sports were hunting and fishing
James departed this life Friday morning, December 20, 2019 at his home in Muskogee, Oklahoma at the age of 73 years. He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Sherry Denise Merrell; son, James William Morgan Jr. and siblings, Janice Ann Morgan, Alfred Gene Morgan, Mary Lou Morgan, Glenda Mae Morgan, Archie Wayne Morgan, Cecil Ray Morgan and Betty Sue Morgan.
Survivors include his wife, Cledith Ilene (York) Morgan of the home; two daughters, Sheila Smith and her fiancé, Tarez Huddleston and Melissa Morgan, all of Muskogee, OK; grandchildren, Harold Merrell, Danny Merrell, Nicholas Morgan, Dashaun Smith, Brittany Liles, Austin Combs and Destiny Morgan; a stepdaughter, Kelly Cochran of Haskell, OK; step-grandchildren, Travis Cochran, Samantha Cochran , Dakota Cochran and Aryanna Cochran; great step-grandchild Cheyenne Cochran; four sisters, Jerry Morgan of Mounds, OK, Brenda Lord of Muskogee, OK Judy Morgan of Greenforest, AR and Patsy Morgan of Checotah, OK; one brother, Alvie Morgan of Checotah, OK; extended family and friends.
Viewing will be from 1:00 -7:00 pm Thursday evening and Friday morning beginning at 9:00 am.
The Funeral Service will be at 2:00 pm Friday, December 27, 2019 in the Chapel at Mallett Funeral Home and Crematory, Wagoner. Honorary pallbearers will be Harold Merrell, Danny Merrell, Nicholas Morgan, Austin Combs and Dashaun Smith.
