IN LOVING MEMORY OF
James Charles
Reeves
August 13, 1933 – March 15, 2024
James Charles Reeves was born August 13, 1933, in Summerfield, Oklahoma, the youngest of children born to Charles Osie and Malinda Catherine (Earls) Reeves. Following high school graduation James served in the United States Air Force. He was a recipient of the Korean Service Medal, United National Service Medal, National Defense Service Medal, and the Good Conduct Medal. During this time, he also earned his bachelor's degree.
While he was stationed at Tinker Air Force Base, James met his wife, the former Laverne Ola Davis. They shared a life together until her passing in 2009. The couple was blessed with one daughter, Malinda Ann.
The family shares many wonderful memories of time spent at the lake boating and swimming, one of James' favorite hobbies. He enjoyed swimming in his later years as well when he attended the seniors' swim at the Wagoner city pool.
James sold real estate for a time, but his biggest interest lay with anything electronic. He was an electronic engineer for almost 33 years with the Federal Aviation Administration. During his retirement James kept active with his electronics. His garage and spare room were full of things needed for his tinkering, and he was always working on his auto's electronics. His talent for anything to do with electronic technology will always be a defining memory for his loved ones. His family still makes use of his home-made jump starter.
James departed this life Friday, March 15, 2024, in Tulsa, Oklahoma at the age of 90 years. He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Malinda Reeves; his wife, Laverne Reeves; all his siblings, Silvia Luevada Reeves, Tilford Utah Reeves, Della Ellenda Reeves, George W. Reeves and Dessie Pauline Reeves.
His loving family who survives him include his daughter, Malinda Ann Gober of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, grandchildren and their spouses, Kevin Don Gober of Tulsa, Oklahoma, Dustin James and Jayne Gober of Middleburg, Florida, and Stephanie Ann and James Zielinski of Gulliver, Michigan; great grandsons, Dakota James Gober and Dawson Levi Gober; numerous nephews and nieces; other extended family, including his son-in-law, Jerry Don Gober of Jacksonville, North Carolina; and friends, especially his friend, Neva Bennett Williams of St. Joseph, Missouri.
A Visitation will be held Thursday evening from 5-7 pm at Mallett Funeral Home.
The funeral to celebrate his life will be at 11 am Friday, March 22, in the Chapel at Mallett Funeral Home. Officiating will be the Reverend Steve Harshaw.
Mr. Reeves will be laid to rest beside his wife, Laverne Reeves, in Pioneer Cemetery in Wagoner.
