James Edward Roberts was born January 14, 1935 in Redbird, OK to Garner David and Alma Marie (Gilbert) Roberts. He graduated from Sand Springs High School and continued to make his home there for many years. James was a welding shop foreman for Western Supply in Tulsa until the company closed. Throughout his life he was involved in ranching in one way or another. He made his home in Porter the past number of years and attended the First Baptist Church. He was a very accomplished pianist and guitar player and loved to play for nursing home residents.

James departed this life Wednesday, September 13, 2017 at his Porter home. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, G. D. Roberts, Jr. and Cleo Roberts.

Survivors include:

James' son Dave Roberts and his wife, Linda; their children, Jami Butler and her husband, Cory and their children, Edyn and Camryn; Chad Roberts and wife, Amanda; and Jill Jackson and her husband, Jason, and children, Lilly and Lane David, all of Papillion, Nebraska.

James' son James E. Roberts, Jr. and his wife, Sherrie; their three children, Barry Roberts and wife, Vangie and their sons Nicholas and Lucas, Abbie Wilson and husband, Beau, their son, Tucker; and Halee Roberts, all of Sand Springs, OK.

Two brothers, Allen Maner Roberts and his wife, Geraldine of Sand Springs and Leo Alvin Roberts and his wife, Gail of Porter, OK.

Two sisters-in-law, Pat Roberts and Brenda Roberts.

Many nieces and nephews; other relatives and friends.

The funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, September 16, 2017 at the First Baptist Church in Porter, OK. The Reverend Dennis Piearcy will officiate. Interment will be in Greenwood Cemetery in Porter. Pallbearers will be Chad Roberts, Timothy Roberts, Cory Butler, Jason Jackson, Brent Roberts and Kevin Roberts. Honorary pallbearers are Lane David Tilford, Jack Cieloho, Leroy Buster, Theodore Parker, Chad Marshall and Mike Yocham.
