Janet Carol Speckels Moody, 74, a longtime Permian Basin area Texas resident, died Wednesday, August 20, 2008 in Wagoner, OK where she had made her home for the past three years. Janet was born March 19, 1934 in Coupland, TX to Lubin August and Margaret (Wyatt) Speckels. She attended college after graduation from Iraan High School was employed as an executive secretary in the oil industry before retirement. Odessa, TX was her home for many years before her move to Midland, TX. Janet liked to garden and to travel and enjoyed spending time with her kittens. She is survived by three children: sons and daughters-in-law, Mike and Karla Moody of Conroe, TX and David and Jodi Moody of Spring, TX and daughter and son-in-law, Pam and Tony Anderson of Wagoner, OK, and by five grandchildren and nine great great grandchildren. Other survivors include her mother, Margaret Speckels of Balinger, TX; two sisters, Beverly Jo Fluitt and husband, Bob, of Granbury, TX and Virginia Self and husband, John, of Odessa, TX; brother, Roger Speckels and wife, Beverly Ann, of Balinger, TX; several nephews and one niece; other relatives, including her cousin, Ann Gillis, who was like a sister, and many friends. The funeral service will be held at 2 PM Monday, August 25, 2008 at the St. Peters Cemetery in Coupland, TX. A visitation will be held at 1 PM at the St. Peter's Church of Coupland.
