Obituary

Janice Lynn (Bynum) Hickman was born December 27, 1950 in Muskogee, Oklahoma. She graduated from Muskogee High School in 1969 and then attended Draughns Business School.

Janice met the love of her life, Jerry Hickman, early on. They were married on November 15, 1969. They enjoyed a long and happy life together, making their home in Wagoner, OK and raising their daughters, Teresa and Traci. As Jerry was a lifelong member of the Cave Dwellers Rock Band, Janice loved going with him to the dances they played for, and she would never miss dancing to her favorite song, "Hang on Sloopy".

Janice worked for a time at Wagoner Community Hospital, later joining the Wagoner County Health Department where she worked as an administrative assistant. Following retirement Janice worked part time at the Wagoner County Election Board.

Janice's life was centered on her family. Her very favorite times were spent with her grandchildren. She loved going swimming and taking drives, which often included driving by her family's and friends' homes just to make sure they were alright.

Janice departed this life on Thursday, June 16, 2022 in Wagoner, Oklahoma at the age of 71 years. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Jerry Hickman and her mother, Rosalee Bynum.

She is survived by two daughters, Teresa Randolph of Wagoner, Oklahoma and Traci Summerlin and husband, Monte of Grain Valley, Missouri; grandchildren, Haylee Fulps and husband, Dalton, Morgan Randolph, Ryan Summerlin, Chase Summerlin and Michael Summerlin; great-grandchildren, Daxon Fulps, Allison Fulps; her father, Wayne Bynum of Muskogee, Oklahoma; sister, Aderian Jimison of Owasso, Oklahoma; brother, Michael Bynum and wife, Marcella of Muskogee, Oklahoma; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Mike and Kathy Hickman of Wagoner, Oklahoma and Jackie and Bill Shepherd of Skiatook, Oklahoma; several nieces and nephews; other relatives and friends.
