Janie Elizabeth (Talley) Gaither was born September 5, 1949 in Wagoner, Oklahoma, the youngest child born to Elizabeth Mae (Burgess) and Henry Franklin Talley. She grew up in Wagoner, but spent most of adult life in Muskogee, Oklahoma.
Janie's caregiving nature was expressed in all aspects of her life. She loved all animals but especially liked to ride horses, and Janie always had a special connection with dogs, whom she could train quite easily. She enjoyed flower gardening as well.
She was a gentle, caring person. As a registered nurse Janie always took great care of her patients with empathy and understanding. Her family is proud of her accomplishments in working her way up in the medical profession. Janie began her career working in a nursing home. She soon became and LPN and later earned her Registered Nursing degree from Bacone College in Muskogee. She worked in many health care settings, including Tulsa Hillcrest Hospital and the Muskogee Jack C. Montgomery Veterans Hospital.
She departed this life early Sunday, July 10, 2022 in Tahlequah, OK at the age of 72 years. She was preceded in death by her parents, Elizabeth and Henry Talley; a brother, Henry Monroe (Mike) Talley and an infant daughter.
Janie loved living life. She will be missed by many who will cherish their memories of her. Survivors include her loving husband, Charles Eudell "Chick" Gaither of the home; two sons, Kevin Ray Charboneau and his wife, Susi and Denny Dale Charboneau, all of Keys, Oklahoma; grandchildren, Trapper Charboneau, Maya Charboneau, Megan Charboneau, Amber Charboneau and Chris Charboneau; several great-grandchildren; a brother and sister-in-law, Dewey Clay and Donna Talley of Pryor, Oklahoma; several nieces and nephews; other extended family and friends.
Viewing will be Sunday from 1-5 pm, with a Visitation from 2 – 4 pm.
The Funeral Service celebrating Janie's life will be at 10 am Monday, July 18, 2022 in the Chapel at Mallett Funeral Home in Wagoner. Officiating will be the Reverend Roger Parker.
