The funeral service to celebrate the life of Jimmie J. Johnson will be at 11 am Saturday, December 18, 2021 in the Chapel at Mallett Funeral Home in Wagoner, OK.
Jimmie J Johnson was born August 14, 1932, in Wagoner, Oklahoma. He departed this life on December 10, 2021, of congestive heart failure in Allen, Texas.
He was preceeded in death by his wife of 61 years, Agnes L. Johnson, his son, James B. Johnson, his parents Bidie Joe Johnson and Ruby Beatrice Johnson (Collins), sisters Grace Owens, Marie Yarbrough, and brother Jack Johnson.
Jimmie was a long-time resident of Wagoner, OK. He was a naval veteran of the Korean War serving 4 years mostly in the Philippines. Returning to the Tulsa area in 1956, he attended and graduated from Spartan School of Aeronautics, obtaining his Airframe and Power-plant License. He was employed as an aircraft mechanic for Myhand/Deam Crop Dusting in Pine Bluff, AR. During his time there he received his private pilot's license and logged many flight hours doing mechanical engine performance checks. He went on to get his commercial pilot's license and FAA inspectors license while working for various crop-dusting companies. He continued his career in aviation as a co-owner of Montark Air, providing flying services throughout Montana and Arkansas. In 1967 he began working for TWA (Trans World Airlines) as a Lead Mechanic in Kansas City, MO. After retiring from TWA, he and his wife returned to his hometown of Wagoner, OK.
Jimmie enjoyed being in nature hunting, fishing, riding his motorcycle and gardening throughout his life.
He is survived by three daughters, Brenda Gayle Brown of St. Joseph, Missouri, Jerri Lynn Johnson of Lawrence, Kansas and Carol Ann Houston of Fairview, Texas; 6 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren; a brother, Everett Johnson; five sisters, Lucille Merrell, Pat Proctor, Johnnie Blanket, Sybil Jackson and Linda Pannell; among other relatives and friends.
