Jimmy Harold Tedder, 89, of Porter, Oklahoma, passed away peacefully on August 12, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. Jimmy was born on July 2, 1936, in Muskogee, Oklahoma. Jimmy was the son of John Henry Tedder and Ollie (Buttram) Tedder. He attended Porter and Muskogee schools, where his love for sports flourished. He was an exceptional athlete who excelled in baseball, proudly playing shortstop.
After graduation, Jimmy began his lifelong career at Coburn Manufacturing Company in Muskogee, Oklahoma. For over 40 years, he served in various roles and earned the respect and friendship of everyone he worked with.
Jimmy married the love of his life, Shirley Eudean McCollough, and together they shared 68 years of marriage centered on family, service, and community. Jimmy was a member of the First Baptist Church of Porter.
Jimmy enjoyed fishing with friends and was deeply involved in his community, serving as a proud Firefighter for the City of Porter for 25 years, working with First Responders and Civil Defense for Wagoner County, and as a volunteer firefighter and emergency response for Muskogee Speedway. He coached Little League Baseball for many years, and even held the position of Mayor of Porter.
Jimmy was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He is survived by his wife, Shirley of the home; daughter, Sherry DeMoss, and husband, Dennis of Porter, OK; and son, Gary Tedder of Ft. Gibson, OK; his cherished grandchildren include, Aaron Clark and wife, Stephanie of Owasso, OK, Kendal Frayer of Edmond, OK, Ashley Meyers and husband, William of Muskogee, OK, Courtney Vaughen of Ft. Gibson, OK, Derek DeMoss and wife, Kimberley of Muskogee, OK, and Dustin DeMoss of Florida; great -grandchildren, Alexis, Gabriel, Gavin, Gage, Jack, Harper, Londyn, Levi, Mackenzie, Wyatt, and baby sister on the way.
Jimmy was preceded in death by his parents, John and Ollie Tedder; three brothers, Jacob Tedder, Bill Tedder, and Charlie Tedder; five sisters, Anna Cox, Mary Derringer, Betty Sue Giles, Lorene Whittenburg, and Virginia Thompson.
Funeral Services to honor and celebrate Jimmy's life will be held at First Baptist Church of Porter, with Reverend Dennis Piearcy officiating, followed by interment at Greenwood Cemetery of Porter, OK.
Those serving as Pallbearers include Dennis DeMoss, Derek DeMoss, Aaron Clark, Gary Tedder, Keith Morgan, and Brian McCollough. Honorary Pallbearers include Alvin Linzy, Dennis Holmes, and Kenneth Kilgore.
