John Carl Davis, 74, departed this life Wednesday, November 19, 2008, at his home in Wagoner, OK. John was born May 19, 1934 in Foyil, OK to Ezekiel Earl and Emma Elizabeth (Burrows) Davis. During the Korean War John served as a paratrooper in the 82nd Airborne of the U.S. Army, where he achieved the rank of staff sergeant. Before his retirement John worked as a form carpenter in the construction of locks and dams. He was a member of the V.F.W. and enjoyed gardening and fishing. John is survived by his loving family and friends, including his wife, Betty Carol Davis of the home; children and their spouses, Debbie and John Moore of Jenks, Mike Davis of Wagoner, Karen Shrum of Salina, James Davis of Yulee, Fl, Tina and Eric Goff of Harrison, AR and Matthew Davis of Wagoner; fourteen grandchildren; two great grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Johnny Wayne Davis, two sisters, Anna MaeChancellor and Mary Jean Wallace and a son-in-law, Lynn Shrum. The funeral service for John will be held at 1 PM Monday, November 24, 2008 at the Mallett Funeral Home Chapel in Wagoner. The Reverend Eric Goff will officiate. Interment will follow in Elmwood Cemetery in Wagoner. Pallbearers will be Richie Goff, John Moore, John Hall, Larry Brixey, Glen Lawhorn and Rick Rainwater. Honorary Pallbearers will be Terry Allen and Bucky Allen. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to Shepherd's Care Hospice in Wagoner.
