John Richard Elsey Jr. was born March 21, 1969 in Fort Smith, Arkansas. Following graduation from Wagoner High School in 1987, he attended college at N.E.O. in Miami, OK and U.C.O. in Edmond, OK. After earning an associates degree John was employed as an adolescent counselor at Laureate. John departed this life surrounded by his loving family on Monday, July 15, 2013 at Saint John Medical Center in Tulsa at the age of 44 years, 3 months and 24 days. He was preceded in death by his father, John Richard Elsey Sr, at an early age; also by his grandparents and an aunt, Betty Joyce Henry. His family will miss him dearly. Survivors include his three sons, Sean Brown and wife, Jessye, of Wagoner, Matthew Chapman of Broken Arrow and Jackson Elsey of Bixby; one daughter, Mariah Chapman of Broken Arrow; his parents, Don and Sondra Fowler of the home in Okay; two brothers, Donald Fowler of Stillwell and William Fowler and wife, Amanda, of Wagoner; a sister, Shelly Ranay (Elsey) Cooper and husband, Mike, of Wagoner; one grandson, Carter Brown of Wagoner; fourteen nieces and nephews; many other relatives and friends. A visitation will be held at Mallett Funeral Home on Thursday, July 18 from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. The funeral service will be at Mallett Funeral Home Chapel on Friday, July 19, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. John's father, the Reverend Don Fowler and Minister Dan Fredman will officiate. Interment will be in Three Rivers Cemetery in Okay, OK. Pallbearers will be Roger Drake, Jon Palmer, Greg Blaylock, Billy Wilson, Josh Morton and James Suddeth. John's sons, Sean Brown, Matthew Chapman and Jackson Elsey will be honorary pallbearers.
