John Paul Lacefield, 63, died Sunday, August 17, 2008 as the result of an accident in the all-terrain vehicle he was driving near his Porter, OK home. A memorial service will be held at 2 PM Friday, August 22, 2008 at the First Baptist Church in Porter. The Reverend Dale Clayton will officiate. John was born January 18, 1945 in Parks, AR to Paul Leroy and Treva Mae (McCraw) Lacefield. He was foremost a dairy farmer. A member of the Dairy Farmers of America, John had the number one producing herd for several years. In 1997 he sold his dairy herd and kept his beef cattle. He was known for both his Jerseys and Brahmans. John earned a Master's Degree from NSU. For a number of years he taught metal shop, woodworking and P.E. in Tulsa, including at Will Rogers High School. For the past twelve years John has worked for Blue Bell Creameries in Broken Arrow in the Receiving and Processing Departments. He had a big alfalfa hay business all over the country and provided the hay for the Tulsa Zoo. He was preceded in death by his father, Paul Lacefield and his grandparents, including Wade and Elizabeth McCraw to whom he was particularly close. John is survived by his wife, Myrna Ruth Lacefield of the home; daughter, Sydney Elizabeth Lacefield of Wagoner; three stepdaughters, Kasi Reese of Tulsa, Debra Reese of Austin, TX and Suzanne Reese of Tulsa; his step granddaughter, Brittany Nicole Brown of Tulsa; his mother, Treva Lacefield of Tulsa; two aunts, Imodel Franklin of Parks, AR and Wanda Holbert and her husband, Tom, of Tulsa; other relatives and friends, including his longtime friend, Jim Fisher, and his wife, Alma, of Broken Arrow, OK.
