John Oran Pyles Jr. was born May 26, 1939 in Charleston, West Virginia to John Oran Pyles Sr. and Virginia Isador (Wilson) Pyles. From West Virginia his family moved to Kansas and then later to Oklahoma. Johnnie was a Tulsa area resident since 1970.

He was a structural mechanic for the aircraft industry. Following retirement his favorite activity was attending estate sales. He enjoyed NASCAR. His family and friends remember Johnnie has a friendly person who never met a stranger.

John departed this life early Tuesday, May 4, 2021 at Hillcrest Hospital in Tulsa, OK at the age of 81 years. He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Virginia Pyles; two wives, Carolyn Pyles Brower and Glenda Gayle Pyles; an infant son, Timothy Pyles; a brother, Gene Perry and a sister, Nancy Frye.

Survivors include his children, Diane Choate of Broken Arrow, OK, Jay Pyles and his wife, Rhonda of Claremore, OK, Barry Pyles of Broken Arrow, OK and Angelica Hoffman and her husband, Doy of Catoosa, OK; three stepchildren, Shantel Guthrie, Andrea Cook and Allen Guthrie; grandchildren, John Brady Choate, Katherine Lindsey Choate, Chris Speers, Matthew Pyles, Stephen Pyles, Mary Jo Gabbert, Willie Pyles and Matthew Hoffman; step-grandchildren, Alyssa Guthrie, Brendan Guthrie and Joshua Guthrie; one great-grandson, Hudson Oran Choate; a brother, David Pyles and his wife, Linda, of Alabama; extended family and friends.

Viewing will be Saturday morning from 9 until 10:30 am at Mallett Funeral Home in Wagoner, OK.

The funeral service will be graveside at 11 am Saturday in Bennett Addition of Elmwood Cemetery in Wagoner, OK. The Reverend Wesley Graver will officiate.

Pallbearers will be Brady Choate, Stephen Pyles, Chris Speers, Brendan Guthrie and Matthew Hoffman.
