IN LOVING MEMORY OF
John Franklin
Seratt
February 8, 1932 – November 7, 2020
The graveside service for John Franklin Seratt, 88, of Wagoner, OK, will be at 1 pm Friday, November 13, 2020 at the Hulbert Community (IOOF) Cemetery in Hulbert, OK. Officiating will be Pastor Roy Shoop.
John Franklin Seratt was born on February 8, 1932 to Henry V Seratt and Ina I Hughes Seratt at the McBride Community near Hulbert, Ok. He died of Covid November 7, 2020 in Muskogee, OK after several strokes and dementia.
John spent his childhood helping his father farm bottom land along the Grand River. He attended the Ray School and Victory School before the family moved south of Hulbert near Norwood Hill. John attended Hulbert High School where he met the love of his life, Marge, Margaret Mae Lang. She loved his honesty and integrity. They were married December 24, 1949 at the tender age of seventeen. They were happily married for over 67 years. Together they raised three children, John Allen, Ellen Kay, and Gale Winifred Seratt.
John got his start in construction from Marge's dad, Frank Lang, out in California. Less than two years later, John was working in South Carolina, then later Kansas. He honed his carpentry skills working in the housing industry and a cabinet making shop. In the early 1960's, John spent six years working as a superintendent of construction on various buildings on the Northeastern State University campus. He oversaw the building of large commercial buildings before and after he started Seraco Construction.
John successfully ran his construction business with his brother, Jim, until retiring at age 53 to the Porter farm. After raising cattle for seventeen years, John and Marge moved back to their Lake house and spent summers in South Fork, Colorado where they built a summer house. John enjoyed gardening and building things for Marge and friends. His garden was always without a weed or a bug.
Family was the most important thing for John. He wanted to provide a stable home life for Marge and their children. He provided for the family needs, and built all of the family homes. In his later years, John loved to take vegetables from the garden around to the neighbors on his four-wheeler. People knew there would be okra, tomatoes, bell peppers, or even melons when they heard his cycle coming.
In a moment of clarity, John accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior on August 16, 2020. Now he joins Marge in Heaven to see the Glory of God.
John is preceded in death by his loving wife, Marge, his parents Henry and Ina Seratt, parents-in-law Frank Lang and Grace Lang, brother Henry Allen, sister Margie Belle Duvall, and great-grandson, Jacob Millikin. John is survived by three children-- John Allen and Beverly Seratt of Porter, Ellen Kay Rodriguez of Wagoner, and Gale and Dennis Peters of Pryor. He has seven grandchildren, Damian and Michelle Rodriguez of Edmond, Cary and Tammie Gilmore of Pensacola, Florida, John and Michell Rodriguez of Skiatook, Jason and Terri Peters of Claremore, Glenda and Zac Millikin of Pryor, Fallon and Wes Withers of Coweta, and John Henry Seratt of Porter, along with fourteen great-grandchildren. John is also survived by his brother Jim and Cathy Seratt of Wagoner, and sisters Earline and Charlie Wyman of Verdigris, and Irene Seratt Coorey of Charlotte, North Carolina, brother-in-law Bob Duvall of Hulbert, and many nieces and nephews. He will be missed by family and friends.
