Funeral services for the Reverend Johnie Lee J.L.' McGlothlin, 92, of Wagoner will be held at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, October 7, 2009 at the Church of God of Prophecy in Wagoner with the Reverend Clay Frost and Mr. Dale Russell officiating. Pallbearers will be James McConnell, Nick McConnell, Donnie Brewer, Doc Davis, Carl Davis and Jack Brooks. Reverend Johnie Lee "J. L." McGlothlin was born December 23, 1917 in rural Cherokee County, Oklahoma to James Bud' Martin and Nettie Lee McGlothlin. On August 15, 1939 he was married to Onaway. After attending Bible College, he began a ministry which would last 55 years. He preached from the time of his calling until his death. Rev. McGlothlin was involved in missionary work and helped to organize several churches including the Church of God of Prophecy in Wagoner where he served as the first pastor. He also barbered at Luellens Barber Shop for 32 years before retirement. Known as a dedicated outdoorsman, he loved fishing and hunting. Reverend McGlothlin passed away Sunday, October 4, 2009 at his home at Toppers Resort lake area near Wagoner. He was preceded in death by his parents and all 13 of his siblings. He is survived by his wife of 70 years, Onaway McGlothlin of the home; a daughter, Wayona McGlothlin of Wagoner; two nephews; several great nieces and great nephews; other relatives and many friends.
