The funeral service for Johnnie Wayne Dumond, 74, of Hulbert, will be at 10 AM Saturday, June 7, 2008 at the Mallett Funeral Home Chapel in Wagoner. The Reverend Dr. Wesley Graver and the Reverend Jerry Henson will officiate. A Visitation will be held from 5-7 PM Friday at Mallett Funeral Home. Johnnie was born March 14, 1934 in Fort Gibson, OK to Harry and Ollie (Benge) Dumond. He grew up in the Hulbert area and attended school at Mt. Zion. Johnnie served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He worked for many years in the construction industry as a carpenter and heavy equipment operator. He retired from the maintenance department of Western Hills Lodge after several years of service. Johnnie was an outdoorsman and enjoyed gardening and fishing. He passed away Wednesday, June 4, 2008 at his home in rural Cherokee County. Johnnie was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Van Peebles, Frank and Herbert Dumond and by his wife, Mary Louise Dumond in August, 1998. He is survived by his companion, Joyce Sharp of the home; his children and their spouses, Mike and Valerie Dumond, Bruce and Venus Dumond and Jeanne and Bill Mason, all of Wagoner; step-children, Ricky and Kim Conley of Hulbert, Jerry and Marcie Conley of Sallisaw and William and Rebecca Krueger, also of Hulbert; two sisters, Cora Lee Webb and spouse, Jim, of Wagoner and Cherrie Johnson of Tahlequah; seventeen grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. Pallbearers for Mr. Dumond will be John Mason, Jarod Dumond, Curtis Gobin, Chad Copeland, Jerry Conley and Jimmy Webb. Interment will be in Pioneer Cemetery in Wagoner.
