Jonia (Joni) Louellen Rhodes was born August 9, 1962 in Manteca, California, to John Hopkins and Thelma (Adney) Boyd. She graduated from Hulbert High School. On November 27, 1980 Joni married Duard Lee Rhodes. They were longtime Wagoner, Oklahoma residents. Before retirement Joni was employed at the Wagoner Middle School as a special education assistant. Joni departed this life on Tuesday, December 8, 2015 in Tulsa, Oklahoma at the age of 53 years, 3 months and 30 days. She was preceded in death by her father, John Hopkins; her father-in-law, Jim Rhodes; a brother, Harold Hopkins; and a granddaughter, Callie Slader. She is survived by a loving family who will miss her greatly: her husband of 35 years, Duard Rhodes of the home in Wagoner; two daughters, Chelise Slader and her husband, Dennis, of Muskogee, Oklahoma and Tamara Rhodes of Tulsa, Oklahoma; a stepdaughter, Valarie Felps of Mobile, Alabama; her mother, Thelma Boyd of Tahlequah, Oklahoma; six grandchildren, Blake Miller, Brodey Slader, Austin Felps, Dustin Felps, and Megan Felps; one great-granddaughter, Emma Felps; four brothers and their wives, Larry and Diana Hopkins, Ron and Patty Hopkins, Curtis Hopkins, and Darryl and Theresa Hopkins; four sisters and their husbands, Joanie and Jake Avila, Veronica and Phillip Neely, Sheri and David Harlin, and Candi and Kevin Roberts; numerous nieces and nephews; other relatives and friends. The family will receive friends at a Visitation from 5:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. Thursday evening at Mallett Funeral Home in Wagoner. The Funeral Service will be at 10:00 A.M. Friday, December 11, 2015 at the Assembly of God Church in Wagoner, Oklahoma. Pastor Mike Fanning will officiate. Interment will be in the Hulbert Community (I.O.O.F.) Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Ron Hopkins, Darryl Hopkins, Larry Hopkins, Eugene Rhodes, Frank Rhodes, and Travis Rhodes.
