Judy Robert "Bob" Rodriguez, 73, lifelong Wagoner resident, departed this life late Wednesday, September 16, 2009 in Muskogee, Oklahoma. His wife of nearly 54 years, Norma Rodriguez, preceded him in death on April 5. Bob was born October 28, 1935 in Wagoner, OK to Andrew Charles and Myra Lee (Carter) Rodriguez. He graduated from Wagoner High School in 1954 and remained an avid Bulldog fan his entire life. As a statistician for WPS Bob was a familiar figure at the football and basketball games for 52 years. He received several awards for working with youth. Bob wrote sports for the Wagoner Newspaper, where he was employed more than 50 years. He was a stringer for both the Tulsa World and Muskogee Phoenix, providing them with the facts and figures on each game. He retired from the Oklahoma National Guard after 22 years. Bob was a mail carrier for the U.S. Postal service for 26 years before retirement. He was a long time member of the First Baptist Church in Wagoner and a 32nd degree Mason, member of the Scottish Rite and former Rotary Club member. Bob was jokester to his family and friends; they will miss his wit. He is survived by two sons, Robert A. Rodriguez of Broken Arrow and David M. Rodriguez of Claremore; five grandchildren, Robin Rodriguez Higginbottom and her husband, Kevin, and Rachelle Rodriguez Ervin and her husband, Robert, all of Wagoner, Mikaela Rodriguez of Fayetteville, AR, Brock Rodriguez of Claremore, and Daniel Brown of Arizona; four great-grandchildren, Andrew Michael Higginbottom, Aaron Matthew Higginbottom, Abagail MiaGrace Higginbottom and Robert Isaac Ervin; three aunts, Josephine Rodriguez Riggs, Nalma Rodriguez Sterling and Ina Carter Crenshaw; many cousins, other relatives, and a host of friends. Besides his wife, Norma, Bob was also preceded in death by his parents, Andrew and Myra Rodriguez; twin sons, Gary Dean and Larry Gene Rodriguez; a brother, Ray Henry Engles; and his grandparents, Marico Juan and Mercid Rodriguez and John and Ida Bell John Carter. A visitation will be held from 6 PM to 8 PM on Thursday evening. The funeral service for Bob will be at 10 A.M. Friday, September 25, 2009 at the First Baptist Church, 401 N.E. 2nd Street, Wagoner, OK. The Reverend Mark Pointer will officiate. Pallbearers will be Joe Gordon, Benny Cox, David Drake, Roger Hayes, Paul Frank Rodriguez, Bob Harris. Interment will be in Elmwood Cemetery, Bennett Addition, in Wagoner.
