Karen Sue (Katy) Murphy was born May 9, 1947 in Wagoner, OK to Earl and Rose (Rogers) Price. She grew up in Wagoner and married Richard Murphy on September 8, 1962. They shared a long and happy life together until his passing on July 6, 2011. A lifelong Wagoner resident, Katy was a member of the First Christian Church. She had an artistic nature expressed in many ways throughout her life. She was a hairdresser for many years, with many loyal clients relying on her until ill health forced her to retire. She was past president of the Oklahoma Barber Board. She and her daughter, Chrissy, owned and operated a tearoom in downtown Wagoner, and they were responsible for the decorating of the Christian Church parlor several years ago during a remodeling. Her sweet nature remained with her throughout her lifetime.

Katy departed this life on July 12, 2017 in Claremore, OK at the age of 70 years. She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard; an infant son, Richard Jr., a sister, Juanita Wilson and two brothers, Chester Price and Alvin Lee Price.

Survivors include her daughter, Chrissy Charles and her husband, Larry, of Claremore; granddaughters, Hannah Barney and her fiancé, Daniel Martin, Jessica Bates and her husband, Shane, and Natalie Livingston and her husband, Christian; daughter, Candy Brown of Wagoner, granddaughter, Rachel Brown, and great –grandson, Cooper Bates; a brother, Dale Price and his wife, Alice, of Wagoner; numerous nieces and nephews; other relatives and friends.

A visitation will be held from 3:00-5:00 p.m. Sunday at Mallett Funereal Home and Crematory in Wagoner. The funeral service to celebrate Katy's life will be held at 10:00 a.m. Monday at the Mallett Funeral Home and Crematory in Wagoner. Chaplain Roger Miller will officiate.

Interment will be in Elmwood Cemetery in Wagoner.

The family invites friends to join them at the Wagoner Community Building following the service to visit and share memories.
